Campaigners have welcomed a North-East MP's call for the Government to set a firm target for energy efficiency by 2010.
Redcar MP Vera Baird is urging the Government to give statutory back-up to the UK's commitment to save five megatonnes of carbon each year by 2010.
The Sustainable Energy Partnership has congratulated Ms Baird on her public support for energy efficiency. They say MPs support of the motion will help to reduce dangerous carbon dioxide emissions and help prevent cold-related deaths in winter.
