A MAN has praised two parking attendants who helped his wife when she fell.

Edna Woodrow, 69, of Loftus, was getting on a bus in Redcar with her husband Arthur, 68, when she slipped and fell, leaving her left leg bleeding very heavily.

Mr Woodrow said: "I have never seen so much blood. I got her off the bus and was very worried and concerned for her. I did not know what to do."

Seconds later, two parking attendants came to his aid.

He said: "They were marvellous. They went into Wetherells furniture shop and got her a chair and made a tourniquet from a towel to try to stop the bleeding."

Mrs Woodrow was given oxygen by paramedics and taken to the James Cook University Hospital.

Mr Woodrow said: "I want the wardens to be given praise. I do not know what I would have done without them.

"It was above their day's duty. I would also like to thank the staff at Wetherells."

Mrs Woodrow said: "I want to say thank you to these people. They were my angels of mercy. There aren't many people around who would go out of their way like that. They were marvellous."

A spokesman from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council said the parking wardens wished to remain anonymous.

He said: "We are delighted with the actions of the two attendants and are equally pleased that the Woodrows have been so kind in their praise.

"We are also going to issue personal congratulations to the two attendants."
