Norton and Stockton Ancients: The Under-10s were playing away to Greatham who started the game stronger and were soon 1-0 up. Norton battled back and were unfortunate not to level the game before half time.

In the second half, Greatham quickly doubled their lead after some good football. Norton got back into the game after a free kick was brilliantly hit into the top corner of the Greatham goal by Max Craggs. Just before full-time, Norton levelled the game with another excellent free kick. The game went to extra time with Greatham just having the edge on Norton and scored two late goals to take the honours 4-2.

City of Durham

City of Durham Football Club, who play in the Premier Division of the Russell Foster Youth football league, has scored a golden goal after securing a sponsorship deal with the Army.

The sponsorship win comes as City of Durham Football Club Under-15s round off another successful season. Since the team was formed it has gone from strength to strength, and over the last seven years the Club has produced seven County/District School Boys, seven Boys who have attended local and Professional Academies and one England School Boy.

The Club runs 15 teams ranging from under 7's to under 15's. Since its formation the club has become a focal point for football opportunities in the local and surrounding communities and the club is continually attracting new members.

Coach, Joe Snowdon said: "Everyone involved with City of Durham Football Club is delighted that we have been awarded this Army sponsorship, which is a major boost to the Under 15s team. All of the youngsters in the team have the enthusiasm and determination to succeed, which has resulted in a great season for them this year.

"As an amateur club, we are quite dependent on financial funding from outside the club to help purchase things like strips and equipment, so we are always grateful for any support we can get. With the Army behind us now, we can concentrate on the training and development of the team, and we are confident that next season can be even better for us as a result."

Warrant Officer Kevin Gibson, Senior Recruiter at the Armed Forces Careers Office in Middlesbrough and one of the assistant coaches of the City of Durham Under-15's said: "The Army has many associations with local teams and wherever possible we try to build relationships. Through my involvement with the team, I knew that the Under 15's were in need of sponsorship support, and was delighted that I was able to help out.

"Like most sports, Football has a huge profile within the Army, and there's every chance for active young people take part in sports as part of their Army career. The boys in the team are at the stage when they are starting to think about their future education and careers, and if the determination that they show on the football pitch is anything to go by, I'd definitely recommend them as the kind of athletic and committed youngsters who would suit an Army career."
