The best score however, was returned by Tom Brodrick with a 65 but as this competition has a handicap limit of 20 tom will have to settle for a third division prize. The best gross was 73 returned by Kevin Ward.

The fourth round of this competition was played at Bedale and proved a tough match even with home course advantage against Filey Golf Club. With a win by Steven Whitwham and halves by Mike Henson and Andrew Gatenby it was left to a sudden death play off by Mike Henson to decide Bedale's fate. The match was decided on the third extra hole with a win by Mike Henson and Bedale look forward to knowing who their opponents will be in the next round.

Harrogate and District Union Inter Club League

A disappointing start to Bedale's A team in this year's competition.

Bedale v Masham: An away match which saw only Roger Parry and Andrew Gatenby winning their singles matches by margins of 2 and 01 and 1 up respectively was followed by only the captain Tony Howard playing with the professional halving their match and all the other matches lost left and Bedale lick their wounds. Match results: Match 11, Bedale 5.

Bedale v Harrogate: A home fixture this time with only Andrew Gatenby winning in the singles. By a 2 and 1 margin. In the Fourballs Martin Fuller and Ian Smith won 3 and 2 and Neil brown and Tim Waters won by a margin of 2 and 1. Match result Harrogate 10, Bedale 6.

Juniors Black Trophy

Presented by Dennis Black a former club captain and junior co-ordinator, this trophy is played as a medal round and the best gross was returned by Junior captain Sam Johnson with a 91 but he did not figure in the prizes in this net competition.
