The season is virtually over, there are two cup finals yet to be played one on Wednesday, the Alan Spedding Cup between Wardley Green and Newton Aycliffe, the other the Kenny Ball Cup on Saturday between Steels Social Club (Premier) and Wardley green (Division One).

Steels SC are the Premier champions with Ferryhill Greyhound runners-up. Wardley Green are the Division One champions with Consett, Duke of Wellington runners-up and Glaxo third spot are also promoted (Corky Waistell will be pleased). Wynyard Veterans are Division Two champions and Red House runners-up, with third placed Gateshead Greencroft gaining promotion, congratulations to their secretary Susan Garrett in her first season in the club.

In Division Three British Telecom are champions, Hedworthfield are runners-up and Houghton CC gain promotion being in third place. Crook Town despite their fantastic efforts from January when they gained 28 points out of 33, lose out ending up in fourth place. Commiseration to manager Kevin Cooper who has worked so hard with secretary Billy Dunn, the slow early season start proved too great a handicap. But what a great season they had, being Echo Cup winners. Betting for next season to win promotion is 1/10 odds on.

Mooneys Marauders achieved a great double by wining Division Four and the Billy Lorraine Cup. Tony Mooney is now the hero of Peterlee. Thornley Celtic were the runners-up and Pennywell Comrades got promotion being in third spot.

In Division One Wynyard Veterans achieved a double by winning the Ironside Cup. Killingworth Arms won two cups, the Villa Real Cup and the Robson-Pattison Cup but missed out on the treble by finishing fifth in the Premier.
