Bygone Days, a leading fancy for the William Hill Trophy, is only a reserve for the big sprint handicap at York tomorrow, writes TATTENHAM.

The William Haggas-trained three-year-old missed the cut by one as a maximum field of 20 was declared at yesterday's 48-hour final stage, with 14 horses eliminated. The only chance Bygone Days, a 7-1 shot with Reuben Page, has of lining up for the six-furlong dash would be if any of the original top 20 is deemed a non-runner by 9.30 this morning. The second reserve is Bo McGinty, trained by Richard Fahey, quoted at 16-1. Alderney Race (11-2) and Mis Chicaf (7-1) are the favourites. Both have been drawn low, with John Wainwright's Mis Chicaf in stall one and the Roger Charlton-trained Alderney Race in four. Joint top-weights on 9st 7lb are Nero's Return and Traytonic, while Barry Hills is doubly-represented with Danzig River and Fun To Ride. Great Habton trainer Tim Easterby, who sent out Dazzling River to win this prize 12 months ago, relies on Times Review. The recent Leicester winner just got into the race as No 20.
