Bob Pendlebury Cup Final: Willington Under-18s celebrated winning the Bob Pendlebury Cup with a nine wicket win over Evenwood.

Batting first Evenwood posted the useful total of 139 for eight in a maximum 30 overs with Drew Samms their top scorer with 51.

Chris Moore bowled a good end for Willington returning four for 32 in eight overs while Richard Stock conceded just 16 runs from his eight overs spell when he captured a couple of wickets.

In reply Willington romped home losing just one wicket. Moore (33) and Jonathan Askew added 111 runs before the partnership was broken. Askew went on to finish unbeaten on 95 hitting no fewer than five sixes and 14 boundaries.

William Orton Under-18 Cup: Ryhope progressed to the next stage with a 27 runs win against Peterlee.

The Wearsiders totalled 87 for nine and for Peterlee Briggs took three wickets for 12 runs, Joyce two for 23 and Wintrip two for 24, the trio of bowlers all sending down four over.

When they responded Peterlee managed only 60 for the loss of nine wickets. Malt was their top marksmen hitting three fours in 21, but the batsmen found the bowler of Dan Clasper troublesome. The Ryhope youngster produced the magnificent figures of six wickets for ten runs in four overs and Peterlee were 28 runs short of a winning margin when their overs were up.

Foster's Tyneside League Under-18 Juniors: Blaydon easily accounted for Swalwell after restricting the visitors to 75 for five

Neaven top scored with 26, but most of the time the Swalwell batsmen were well contained by the Blaydon attack.

Brett Little returned three for 23 in five overs and Andrew Miller had two for 24 also from a five overs spell.

When they went into bat Blaydon lost just one wickets reaching the modest target. Chis Maughan ended unbeaten with 27 and Mark Mason was undefeated on 28.

Federation Special Durham Senior League Under-15: Eppleton had all their wickets in tact when they overtook the Horden total of 66.

Scott Borthwick finished unbeaten on 42 hitting five boundaries and Lee Mallaburn was 15 not out in a total of 70 for none.

Batting first Horden were dismissed for 66 which included 30 by Burke with two fours. Mallaburn also had a good night with the ball for Eppleton claiming three wickets for 18 runs in five overs while Kyle Davies returned three for 23 from the four overs he delivered.

Whitburn were easy winners at Felling, who managed only 48 for six replying to the visitors total of 164 for four. Graham Jones top scored with 17 which included two boundaries for Felling and for Whitburn, Marshall claimed two wickets for only six runs in two overs.

Batting first Whitburn had Michael Turns and Paul Marshall in splendid form. Turns ended unbeaten on 76 with a couple of sixes and six boundaries, while Marshall stroked nine fours out of 66.

Burnmoor overtook the Gateshead Fell total of 78 for eight with six wickets remaining. Holden had five boundaries in 34 and McDonald four fours out of 25, while in the Gateshead Fell attack none did better than Joe Errington whose two wickets cost just 14 runs in 4.2 overs.

When they made first use of the wicket Gateshead Fell found it difficult and 29 by Daniel Grey was their top score. He found the boundary line on three occasions. Ben Embleton bowled well for Burnmoor returning two for 12 from five overs and Anderson had two for 20, also from a five overs stint.

Gary Ashcroft scored 55 of the South Hetton total of 138 for seven against Boldon who replied with 116 for six while the game at Ropery Lane between Chester-le-Street and Phildelphia was postponed because the ground was unfit.

The Readers Durham County League Under-18: Newton Aycliffe celebrated their first win in two seasons when they defeated Etherley by eight wickets.

The Wheeler brothers, Matthew and Christopher, were prominent when Aycliffe replied to the Etherley total of 108 for four.

Matthew, 13, took the man of the match honours when he scored 78 with two sixes and 12 boundaries. His 14-year-old brother Christopher added 13 as the pair shared an opening stand of 88.

Batting first Etherley ended with 108 for four on the board and they too had a batsman in form. Adam Lyall made a splendid 69 which included one six and eight boundaries.

Gavin Pattison U15 Cup: Ryhope romped home when they entertained Whitburn who managed only 68 for eight including 29 by Marshall, who found the boundary line on two occasions.

Vince McBeth was Ryhope's match winner with the ball and in five overs he conceded just 11 runs taking five wickets.

When Ryhope batted first they ended with 122 for five on the board. David Hughes led the way hitting seven fours in 58 not out while Amar Purewal struck four fours out of 43.

Little was the most productive bowler in the Whitburn attack taking two for 35 in five overs.

Durham Coast League Under-15: Ryhope had 30 runs to spare defeating Seaham Park in the local derby.

John Brett hit no fewer than five boundaries ending unbeaten on 51 and Amar Purewal contributed 19 with three fours to the Ryhope total of 124 for four.

Chapman (24), Dickens (23) and Sutherland (19) provided most of the runs in the Seaham Park reply which reached 94 for nine before the overs expired.

Jamie Whillians was in splendid form with the ball for Ryhope capturing four wickets for just nine runs in two overs, while Vince McBeth gave admirable support and is four overs spell produced three for 13.

Federation Special Durham Senior League Under-15 Cup: South Shields reached the final of the Federation Special Durham Senior League U15 Cup with a decisive victory over neighbours Marsden.

Batting first Marsden managed only 46 for eight as both David Dawson and John Hutton returned figures of two for nine in the Shields attack.

David Patterson conceded only five runs taking two wickets and Chris Watson was also in form claiming two wickets at a cost of 14 runs

In response South Shields conceded one wicket and Chris Dorothy was their top scorer with 15.

Castle Eden: THE Under-13s played Ryhope on Saturday in a league match at Ryhope and although the weather threatened a downpour it held off so the match took place with mixed sunshine and dark clouds.

That did not stop Castle Eden winning the match by 30 runs. Eden batted first and ran up an impressive 128 from the 20 overs with excellent running by Keith Bailey 40 runs, Mark Grufferty 32, Ross Kirtley 36, Christopher Freeman 14 not out and Craig Thirlaway 2 not out. Ryhope battled well on their home ground and ran up 98 for two wickets. The bowling figures for the two wicket takers for Eden Keith Bailey 4 overs, 1 maiden, 1 wicket for 11 runs and Ross Kirtley 4 overs, 1 wicket for 28 runs.

The Under-15s were not so lucky. They were defeated at home by Houghton on Monday night. Although Eden put up a good fight it was not enough to overcome the away team. Houghton opened the batting and ran up 124 for 9 off 20 overs. Eden bowlers did well with Jonathon Malkin 4 0vers, 2 wickets for 16 runs, Marc Grufferty 1 over, 2 wickets for 8 runs, Ross Kirtley 4 overs, 3 wickets for 22 runs. Castle Edens batsmen did well but the 87 runs were not enough to beat Houghton. Jonathon Malkin 23 runs, Keith Bailey 11 runs, Ross Kirtley 29 Runs, Jonathon Brown 5 runs, Christopher Freeman 3 not out and Mark Grufferty 7 not out, hitting a marvellous 6 with the last ball of the match.

Teesside Valve and Fitting Under-15 Shield: Willington will meet Bishop Auckland in the final after both sides enjoyed comfortable victories in the semi-finals.

Willington overtook the Evenwood total of 68 for six without losing a wicket as Stephen Alderson ended unbeaten on 31 and Chris Harker made 25 not out. Both youngsters recorded five boundaries.

Batting first Evenwood managed only 68 for six which included a top scoring 19 by Lee Foster. Chris Harker was in good form with the ball for Willington claiming three wickets for 15 runs in four overs and Lee Broadley gave support, his five overs spell costing just 12 runs for two wickets.

At Esh Winning, Bishop Auckland won by 22 runs. When they made first use of the wicket Bishops totalled 141 without loss as Cowling hit a couple of sixes and four boundaries in 62 not out and Atkinson ended undefeated on 67 with nine fours.

Replying Esh were in with a chance but eventually ended with 119 for six on top. Ryan McCourt was their top batsman hitting three sixes and as many fours in an undefeated 55 while for Bishop Auckland Nevison took three wickets for just 16 runs.
