There will be another short trip in the UniBond Premier Division in the new season for the North-East's five UniBond League clubs after Ossett Town were promoted to the Premier Division.

Telford's demise in the Conference meant that Ashton United were promoted from the UniBond Premier to the Conference north, and in turn Ossett Town, who finished 14th in the First Division, were promoted to the Premier Division.

And after a meeting with the FA on Monday, AFC Telford, the club set up by supporters, were placed in the UniBond First Division.

Ossett's rise has been remarkable, because at one stage last season they were well adrift of the others after having points deducted for fielding inelegible players.

Ossett's promotion went down well with Bishop Auckland manager Brian Honour, who said: "That means another much shorter trip for us. There will be a few away trips within a couple of hours ride outside the North-East now."

Bishops have studied the make up of the new Premier Division, and have asked to play one of their long distance away games on the opening day of the season, but that has yet to be confirmed by the league, whose AGM takes place next Saturday.
