The Rogers brothers were all in outstanding form when Middleton St George hosted Witton-le-Wear.

Stephen made a top scoring 91 hitting six sixes and ten boundaries, Simon had 12 fours out of 63 while Paul struck a couple of sixes and five boundaries adding 60 to the formidable total of 297 for six compiled from only 40 overs.

Despite Peter Chrisp batting throughout the Witton-le-Wear reply and carrying his bat for 46, which included seven fours, the visitors managed 71 all out from 24 overs.

Amjid Hussein claimed four of the wickets for 14 runs in eight overs, three of which were maidens, Tahir returned three for 15 and Paul Gregg three for 21 from the seven overs he delivered.

Despite restricting Heighington to just 89, Cockerton had to work hard for a two wickets victory.

Dave Glew was in good form with the ball for Cockerton, capturing six wickets for 39 runs. Farrow and Rawlings took two wickets apiece but when Cockerton went to the wicket they too found the going difficult before reaching a match winning 92 for eight.

John Boocock conceded only 24 runs in 14 overs, including seven maidens, taking four wickets and Stuart Beaumont claimed three for 53 in 13.2 overs.

Ingleton overtook the Catterick Village total of 106 with six wickets remaining. Carter top scored with 29 for Catterick and Coultish added 25 but most of the time the batsmen were contained by the bowling of Gamack (3-14) and Russell whose three wickets cost him just 26 runs.

Replying Ingleton conceded a couple of early wickets before Stuart Dawson (42) put them on a winning path. Following his dismissal Brown made a useful 21 not out while for Catterick Swainston and Galley both took two wickets.

At Raby Castle, Rockliffe Park won by three wickets. Faced with a target of 155 they were indebted to a fourth wicket partnership between Hart (51) and Fidell (48) after three wickets had fallen cheaply. Jones was the most productive bowler in the home attack with four for 48 while Poole conceded just 17 runs for his two wickets.

Batting first Raby Castle had Poole in form with the bat and he made a top scoring 55 out of a total of 154 for seven which included 25 by Wilson before he was run out.

Haughton managed just 124 for four and went down by seven wickets at home to Barningham. Wilkinson with 43 and Spark 47 led the home team's innings, while Newton ended unbeaten on 55 and Mossford contributed 34 to the Barningham response of 126 for three.

Barton made the formidable total of 231 for five at Cliffe where opener Miller was just one run short of a century when he was dismissed. Lockey struck 35 and Headon an unbeaten 37.

When they went to the wicket Cliffe were restricted to 116 all out which included 59 by Rogerson. Pheasant, introduced as second change in the Barton attack, captured four wickets for just 14 runs. He was ably assisted in the bowling line-up by Headon and Frankland with two wickets apiece.

In Division B Eryholme totalled only 85 for eight in 40 overs and more than half the total came from Chisman with an undefeated 48. Stephen Linsley was in magnificent form for Lands and in 19.5 overs he collected six wickets for just 41 runs. Robert Little took the other two wickets for 19 runs in 11 overs.

After Andrew Elstob had departed for 24 which included three boundaries, Linsley completed a good day guiding Lands to victory when he ended undefeated on 27 with two sixes and two fours. Colin Harker captured two wickets for 16 runs in five overs for Eryholme.

Dales overtook the total of 179 for two made by Rockliffe Park with a couple of wickets remaining. Their hero with the bat was opener Lawson who contributed 102 while Simpson added 38. Harrison took four for 58 and Raby four for 63 in the home attack.

When Rockliffe Park batted first the runs flowed from Marshall (61no) and Raby (47).

Trimdon CCA realised only 114 for seven at Brompton-on-Swale where Goften, Coughtry and Churlish all made at least 30. Nicholson and Leyburn took three wickets apiece when they bowled unchanged for the home team.

Replying Brompton conceded early wickets, but Dale (67no) led them to victory even though Coughtry returned the outstanding analysis of six for 31.

Middleton-in-Teesdale were pegged to 43 for nine at Heighington for whom Jameson took four for 17 and Fawcett three for 22. Jackson gave support to the pair with two wickets for three runs.

Batting first Heighington made 147 for seven which included 33 by Ainsley, 29 from Taylor and 24 by Hirst. Coatesworth was the most successful bowler for Middleton returning four for 48 and Fletcher had two for 54.

Spennithorne and Harmby had just 18 runs to spare defeating East Cowton. Tunstall opened with 76 before Fowler ended with 43 not out when the home side posted 158 for seven. Five of the wickets were credited to Wilkin for 82 runs.

When they replied Clark (40) and Martin (20) gave East Cowton a good start and number three batsman Smith maintained the momentum contributing 38 but when Greaves and Walker shared most of the wickets East Cowton were all out for 140.

Aldbrough St John had no difficulty overtaking the Middleton Tyas total of 107 when Priestley batted throughout for an undefeated 67 as only one wicket went down.

Wiper (23) and Williams (34) top performed with the bat in the Middleton Tyas total of 107 while Sillars had an analysis of five for 43 for Aldbrough.

In Division C Raby Castle defeated Aldbrough St John by 40 runs after totalling 148 batting first and Barton easily succeeded when they met Cliffe who they restricted to 115 after totalling 169 for three which included 60 not out by Kelly.

Norman Sturman returned three for 17 and Dobinson three for 15, but Barningham still managed a match winning 177 in their game with Haughton who replied with 132. Dobinson top scored for 75 while for Barningham Taylor returned five for 32 and Forster four for 30.

Troop (5-28) and Collingwood (3-22) restricted King James to 78 for eight and Spennymoor won by six wickets as Hodgson contributed 31.

The scores in the game between Trimdon CCA and Cockerton ended the same. Gill with four for 33 and Smee three for 24 reduced Trimdon CCA to 107 but despite 33 from Grundy Cockerton were also all out for 107. Gorton was in superb form for CCA claiming six wickets for 25 runs and Lee gave admirable support with four for 29.

Craggs captured five wickets for a mere 18 runs and Hemingway had three for 20 when Lands were all out for 74, a total which Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill overtook losing just three wickets as Tinkler ended unbeaten with 36.
