BANK on Bonne de Fleur (3.25) to blossom in today's big race at York (3.25) for the £75,000 William Hill Trophy.

Bryan Smart's filly looked a picture in the paddock prior to blitzing some decent sprinters on her comeback outing in the Listed Silver Bowl Stakes at Ripon in April.

It's always nice to see a young horse bloom physically with the course of time and that remark certainly applies to Bonne de Fleur, who has developed into a beautiful three-year-old.

There have been several suitable races in which she could have taken part in since, so it is most intriguing that her shrewd Hambleton-based handler has kept her waiting in the wings for a shot at today's pot of gold.

With 20 runners going to post, hold-up horses might find themselves in a bit of bother when it comes to cutting their way through the pack, but in the case of the selection, such matters need not be a concern as Bonne de Fleur prefers to strut her stuff from the front.

Considering the filly is bound to go off at a double-digit price, an each-way wager is recommended in the face of some stiff opposition from the likes of Alderney Prince and Wanchai Lad, both of whom have been the subject of significant ante-post support throughout the last few days.

* Gay Kelleway has booked Frankie Dettori for Vortex in next Wednesday's Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot.

The Newmarket trainer believes the Italian to be the best in the business and ideally suited to Vortex, who likes to put his head in front close to the finish.

Reflecting on the Victoria Cup, run over seven furlongs of Ascot's straight mile, in which Vortex finished third to Mine, Kelleway said: ''We were in front on the stands side for too long and we really needed a horse to take us there."
