After last week's aberration the Woodham Mens Team found themselves Ryton Target for promotion after a 12-2 demolition of Ryton GC on Tuesday, July 13.

Only two matches got as far as the 16th green.

Lee McCavanagh and Peter Moralee had their matches won (6&4 and 7&6) before the rest of the team had barely got started!

Tony Stafford was the only Woodham casualty going down 4&3 despite a sterling effort.

There were further convincing wins for Mark Hodgson 4&2, Richard Ketley (who sank two monster putts on the 3rd and 7th) 5&4 and John Banks 3&2.

It was good to see Shaun Goad back to top form with a great 5&4 victory.

"The boys bounced back brilliantly after last weeks freak result," said a massively relieved Club Captain, Steve Haslam. "With only two games left this victory has enhanced the prospects of promotion."

It seems that the Woodham Club Captains are fated with bad weather for their Golf Days. Ladies Captain Margaret Russell and her Vic Captain Lesley Mullen had to watch their guests struggle through really heavy rain on Sunday 11th July. Nevertheless everyone enjoyed the day and there were some good scores returned despite the weather. Tracey Hahn won the day with 37 points. There were numerous ancilliary competitons and many competitors picked up prizes at the well attended Presentation Dinner after the Competition.

Alan Walton with 40pts just shaded the Rushyford Members Stableford on Saturday, July 3 from Des Parker on 39pts. Mick Kelly was one shot further beack in third place.

A superb gross 69 (Nett 67) for Peter Morallee won him Medal 4 and a place in the Hall of Fame Qualifying Competiton it also took his handicap down to 1. Peter Thorne with a nett 68 was second in the 1st Division with Dave Mawston continuing to show good form in 3rd place on nett 68 but with a worse back 9. In the 2nd Division Keith Robinsons nett 72 saw him hold off Alan Johnston who posted one shot more. Gary Turnbull with nett 76 (BB9) was 3rd.
