MUSIC lovers who attended a concert at an Army barracks helped to raise £1,020 for charity.

The concert, at Alanbrooke Barracks, Topcliffe, near Thirsk, in May was organised by 40th Regiment Royal Artillery (Lowland Gunners).

It featured the Royal Artillery Band from Woolwich, pipes and drums, York Philharmonic Choir, Sowerby School Choir and Thirsk School Band.

The concert was in aid of the Chapel of Justice and Peace at Ripon Cathedral and the proceeds were handed to the Dean The Very Reverend John Methuen by commanding officer of 40th Regiment Royal Artillery, Lieutenant Colonel Richard Nugee.
