A PLUMBER who took part in violence against Turkish football fans in a car park has had his prison sentence cut.
But London's Criminal Appeal Court refused to reduce the jail term of another football hooligan, builder Noel Crann, who was among five other men jailed for 18 months for their parts in the fracas.
Julian Walmsley, 32, of Low Street, Tingley, Wakefield, was jailed for 21 months at Newcastle Crown Court in April, after admitting affray.
Crann, 38, of Intake Lane, Birstall, West Yorkshire, also admitted affray, receiving 18 months. Both men were made the subject of a six-year football banning order.
Mr Justice David Clarke, sitting with Lord Justice Maurice Kay and Mr Justice McConmbe, cut Walmsley's term to 18 months, bringing it into line with the other five.
He said it had been wrong to increase Walmsley's sentence because of previous offences involving football matters.
The pair were involved in a fight with Turkish fans after a match between England and Turkey at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland.
