A MUSIC lover has offered to provide £20,000 towards an £80,000 piano for The Spa Orchestra at Scarborough.
The 92-year-old orchestra is using a piano which is nearly 80 years old.
The town's tourism chief, Steve Hollingworth, said specialists from top piano makers Steinway had said the instrument was now at the end of its useful life.
The £20,000 contribution has been given anonymously and the council is to fund the balance.
Meanwhile £140,000 is to be spent on an engineering report to investigate the defective acropodes built into the £30m coast defence scheme at the East Pier and Marine Drive.
