SERVICE PLANS: Services at Yarm Parish Church on Remembrance Sunday begin at 8am when Holy Communion is celebrated. At 9.30am, there will be a sung Eucharist followed by a procession to the war memorial at 10.30am. The Act of Remembrance will start at 10.50am, and the silence will begin at 11am. After the service, coffee will be served in the church.

The Remembrance service at Egglescliffe will take place in St John's Church. The uniformed groups will move into church at 10am and the service will begin at 10.10am. This will be followed by a procession to the war memorial, where there will be an act of remembrance from 10.50am. There will be a joint service on Sunday for the parishioners of Worsall, Kirklevington and Picton at 2.30pm at Worsall. The service will be led by the Reverend Mark Allsopp. A procession to the war memorial for a wreath-laying service will follow.

FOCUS ON ISLAM: A series of four talks which looks at issues facing the country before the next General Election continues on Monday when Dr Paul Starkey, of Durham University, will give a talk called The Islamic Factor. The event will start at 7.30pm in Yarm School science theatre. Admission is free, but there is a retiring collection to cover expenses.

CRAFTS ON SHOW: A Christmas craft fair will be held at Yarm School on Saturday, November 20. Local food producers and craftspeople will attend. There will also be activities and entertainment for children, including a ride-on model railway, face-painting, story-telling and balloon art. Home-made catering will be available in the dining hall from 10am to 4pm.

CHRISTMAS FAIR: Yarm Par-ish Church will hold its main fundraising event of the year on Saturday, November 20, from 10am in Yarm Fellowship Hall, West Street. There will be stalls, including crafts, cakes, preserves and plants. Items are needed for the raffle, tombola and stalls. Anyone able to help is asked to take items to the church.

QUIZ NIGHT: A general knowledge quiz will be held at Egglescliffe Community Centre on Saturday, November 27, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £4 for members and £4.50 for non-members and will include a pie and peas supper. Tickets are available by calling (01642) 652476.

DIARY DATE: Yarm Civic Society will hold its annual meeting at 7.30pm on Friday, November 19, at the Tall Trees Hotel, Green Lane. Speaker David Hunter's theme will be The Birth of a Butterfly, which is the tale of a building that has been restored
