A THEATRE group that has spent 25 years putting on shows for young people has been invited on a tour of the Far East.
CTC Theatre, formerly known as Cleveland Theatre Company, was founded in November 1979 to perform plays for local schools.
But in recent years, it has gone on to produce larger-scale shows, including outdoor performances in Saltburn Valley Gardens and Preston Park, Stockton.
In 1993, after artistic director Paul Harman took over, the company dedicated itself to working with children and young people. Most recently, it has been based at Darlington Arts Centre.
Yesterday, Mr Harman said that the company had been asked to perform for youngsters in China, South Korea and other areas of the Far East.
"In the past two years, CTC has performed for children and young people in Canada, Singapore, Austria, Germany and Spain, as well as hundreds of schools in the North-East," he said.
"Now we have been invited to tour Seoul, Taipei, Shanghai, Okinawa and other cities in Japan too."
Dates and arrangements for the tour will be sorted out shortly.
