RUSSIAN school children taking part in a cultural exchange focusing on Remembrance Day have met the Mayor of Darlington.
Councillor Roderick Francis invited the 12 pupils and two teachers from School 639, in St Petersburg, who are hosted by Hummersknott School and Language College.
They had a tour of the Town Hall and visited the Mayor's Parlour.
The Russian pupils are taking part in a history project at the college and yesterday joined pupils from Darlington and, via a video link, pupils from a school in Germany to take part in a conference to discuss how the Second World War affected the civil population of their countries.
Hummersknott pupils will travel to Russia, in February, as part of the exchange.
