PLANS are being finalised for festive fun in a Teesdale market town.
The Barnard Castle Christmas Festival opening ceremony is on Friday, December 3.
The opening event will begin at 6.30pm and there will be a number of new features, including a small nativity tableau.
Events which have been organised so far include a visit from Father Christmas, courtesy of Teesdale Lions.
It is hoped the ceremony will be covered live by Radio Teesdale with presenter Steve White acting as master of ceremonies.
The arrangements will be discussed by Barnard Castle Town Council's Christmas Festival committee on Monday at 7.30pm, in the district council chamber
In a report to councillors, the town clerk, Geoff Bosworth, said: "The event is generally on track although some of the component parts have yet to be finalised."
In previous years, the council has held a large son-et-lumiere event as part of the festival, however because of pressures of expense, it has been decided to hold this every other year.
