PLANS to demolish a former school and build a new one has been put on hold.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's planning committee delayed the decision to knock down the former Warsett School in Brotton and redevelop the site for the new Freeborough College, until a site visit has taken place.
The application is for outline permission for a four storey building.
Five residents have objected to the height of the building, to the potential increase in traffic and proposed parking.
The college, if approved, is expected to be completed by 2006. Officers had recommended approval of the scheme before referring it to the Government Office North-East.
