POWERGEN Cup holders Newcastle Falcons have been drawn away to Saracens in the sixth round of this season's competition on the weekend of December 18/19.

It means a re-match with the man who lifted the trophy as Falcons' skipper at Twickenham in May, Hugh Vyvyan, who is on the England bench against Canada tomorrow.

Newcastle drew 20-20 with Saracens at Kingston Park in a Zurich Premiership match last month and Director of Rugby Rob Andrew said: "They will provide tough opposition.

"But having won the cup twice in the last four seasons we hope to continue our excellent run. The win against Sale in last May's final secured European rugby for us and it's a great trophy to win in its own right.

"It was a massive day for the fans and raised the profile of the club. We have been taking the trophy to schools and clubs and displaying it in the city centre and the public reaction has been fantastic."

Newcastle's Colin Charvis is playing for Wales against Romania tonight, while lock Stuart Grimes is in the Scotland team to face Japan at Perth tomorrow.

Fellow lock Craig Hamilton is not required by Scotland, but with Luke Gross suspended the Falcons still have a second row vacancy and have brought in Andy Buist for Sunday's home match against Leeds.

The 20-year-old Academy product played against Leeds at Headingley last year, but this is his first start this season.

Academy pair Mathew Tait and winger Ollie Phillips are in the England Sevens squad for training on November 22-23. Afterwards the squad will be reduced from 18 to 12 for events in Dubai and South Africa next month.
