A HOME improvement agency for elderly and disabled people or low income families has scooped a national award.
Sedgefield Borough Council has been awarded a National Quality Mark by Foundations, the co-ordinating body for home improvement agencies in England.
The service was formed in 1997 and is funded by the council, Supporting People Partnership and grants.
It offers services to help residents stay independent and cared for in their own homes. It also helps vulnerable clients to repair and adapt their homes by finding funding, overseeing work and liaising with support groups.
Coun Agnes Armstrong, lead member for supporting people, said: "This is a well deserved award for an excellent service and I congratulate the staff who have worked so hard to achieve it."
