STOCKTON rider Kirsty Porter was in tremendous form when Stainsby Grange Equestrian Centre, Thornaby hosted two junior qualifiers for the Blue Chip Championships at Solihull next April.

She won the Pro Junior Sparkle on the 13-year-old Foxmill Montana, which was produced in the North-East as a novice by Linzi Fox and was first ridden by Kirsty only four weeks previously.

Kirsty, trained by Peter Allen, also took third with the eight-year-old Irish Platinum Pleasure, which will be aimed at the Newcomer/Foxhunter finals next year.

Kirsty also won the Foxhunter/1.10m open on Montana ahead of Maxwell Reed-Stephenson from Raskelf, who rode Laura Ferguson's former pony Skys The Limit.

Maxwell, who only teamed up with the eight-year-old pony two weeks previously, also won the Kitt Krailburg Coral qualifier and will be aiming for the Winter JC finals.

Ceilidh Jackson from Lingdale was runner-up in the Coral qualifier on the five-year-old coloured gelding Technicolour II, owned by Bev Marley and bred locally by Mr Welford.

Ceilidh, trained by event rider Paddy Muir, competed in the Blue Chip finals this year and was a winner at Epworth.

The 128/138 was won by Kirsten Lucas from Yarm on David Thompson's Hows Trix ahead of Barnard Castle's Emily Douglas on Bev Marley's Mighty Flyer.

Laura Stephenson and Spirit Walker took the newcomers/open ahead of Ashley Wright on Midnight Mercedes.
