TEN children would be more than enough for most mothers, but not for Marian Cornforth as she opens a new 40-place nursery.

With help from her husband, Robin, and their ten children, who range in age from three to 21 years, Mrs Cornforth has converted a building into a 40-place nursery, with indoor and outdoor fully-equipped play areas.

The Goulton Grange day nursery, at the family's farm in Potto, near Stokesley, was officially opened on Friday by Richmond MP William Hague, who praised the design of the centre and marvelled at the energy of the Cornforth family.

The nursery is open 51 weeks a year and working with Mrs Cornforth are her eldest daughter Emily, 20, and two other staff members.

The couple's eldest son Oliver, 21, helps his father on what is still a working organic farm.

"We firmly believe in the local ethos," said Mr Cornforth. "This place is something different, where children can be outside in fresh air, can enjoy organic food and learn a bit about farming and the area."

The family, above with Mr Hague, is made up of: Oliver, Emily, Pollyanna, 17, Clover, 16, Barnaby, 14, Poppy, 12, Charity, ten, Giles, eight, Granville, six, and Jasper, three.

"We're used to having a lot of people around," said Pollyanna, "And we all like kids, so it's fun to have the nursery here."
