MOTORISTS travelling to and from Bedale face more disruption with temporary traffic lights from Monday.

The main A684 will be affected while Yorkshire Water repairs a sewer over a short stretch between the railway crossing and the bridge over Bedale Beck.

The work has been scheduled to last for three weeks but the company has told the highways department that it hopes to complete it in two.

The work will see the third set of temporary traffic lights on the A684 in the last two months.

Transco spent a week laying a new gas pipe at the busy junction of Bridge Street, South End, Sussex Street and the Market Place in Bedale.

Work is continuing on road and footpath widening and the making of a mini roundabout in the centre of Leeming Bar ahead of the fourth phase of the local industrial estate.

This programme is expected to be extended by about three weeks because of work planned by the electricity distribution company NEDL.
