BUSINESS in the Community's Yorkshire region has appointed communications director MERVIN STRAUGHAN.
Mr Straughan, who lives in Knaresborough, started his career as a reporter at The Sunderland Echo and has held a series of senior management positions with steelmaker Corus, Yorkshire Electricity and BT - where he was media relations manager for the North of England.
Business in the Community, which is in its 22nd year and helps improve companies' impact on society, has 750 member companies and a further 1,600 organisations taking part in programmes and campaigns.
Mr Straughan's responsibilities include leading a marketing and communications team of eight in raising the awareness of corporate social responsibility and its impact on the marketplace.
