COUPLES planning to get married are being invited to a charity gala with a difference.
Beamish Hall Hotel, near Stanley, County Durham, is hosting the region's first gala exclusively for engaged couples.
The event, on Friday, January 21, will mark the opening of the 17th Century hotel's restored Winter Garden.
It has been organised by magazine The Wedding Guide for up to 150 couples.
Ian Ward, of the magazine, said: "This is an opportunity for engaged couples to have a special evening, get ideas about their big day and meet other brides and grooms-to-be."
There will be a prize draw, offering a £1,000 wedding dress, plus a balloon race and disco.
Tickets are priced at £30 per couple and all proceeds will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
