A FAIRYTALE with a twist is being performed at two village venues this week.

Teesdale-based Jack Drum Arts has put together Little Red Riding Hood and Her Amazing Grandmother, a contemporary take on the traditional story.

It looks at issues surrounding elderly people in rural County Durham, such as isolation, and was part-funded by Age Concern.

Tomorrow, the cast takes the stage at Dipton Community Centre, near Stanley, at 7pm.

The show has almost sold out, but remaining tickets are £3 and £1 for children and £6.50 for a family ticket. They can be ordered from the centre on (01207) 570197.

The production moves to Castle Eden Village Hall on Sunday, starting at 4.30pm.

For details, including ticket information, contact the venue on (01429) 836789.
