A TEESDALE company has helped to set up a computer network in the offices of a leading lawyer.

Barnard Castle company Comtek and its telecoms partner Applegarth communications, of Leeds, have installed the latest Blue Tooth technology at the offices of John McDonnell QC.

The £95,000 contract involved installing an integrated telecommunications and computer network at Thirteen Old Square, Lincoln's Inn, London.

As well as providing secure entry for staff, the system allows instantaneous print-ing of large legal documents from e-mail and high-speed printing and copying of papers.

Lawyers will also be able to work from any court in the country or abroad and still have access to information at the office.

Comtek and Applegarth Communications won the contract after installing access control and a computer and telephone system at Mr McDonnell's North-East home.

Applegarth managing director David Marsden said: "The system is so sophisticated that it even enables Mr McDonnell to check everything is okay at his home in the North-East from his desk at his London chambers.

"He simply logs on to his CCTV cameras via a secure website through the SDSL link provided."
