THE consular offices of France and Germany have been brought together under one roof to provide improved services in the North-East.

Based at the Regent Centre, in Newcastle, the joint consulate will serve people in an area between Berwick, Kendal and the Tees Valley.

As well as offering regular consular services, such as passports, ID cards, e-government services, advice and guidance, the office will also be a vital link to commercial, educational, cultural and diplomatic activities at the French and German Embassies in London.

The initiative complements the wider ambition of the Franco-German government and the EU to provides a service that puts customers first.
