POLICE are looking for two men after cash was stolen from a pub.

The burglary took place at 12.45pm on Sunday at the Kings Head in Market Place, Malton, when a man entered a private area of the pub and stole money. He was disturbed and then escaped.

He is described as white, aged 18 to 20, about 5ft 11ins with short black hair and a slight fringe. He had a spotty complexion, wore glasses glasses and was wearing a white and sky-blue long-sleeved sweatshirt with a high round neck and blue jeans.

His companion, a white man, in his mid to late-20s, about 5ft 8ins with collar-length mousey blond hair in a pony tail, was detained by staff. He managed to escape and got into a car driven by a member of the public. He was driven to the war memorial where he got out and ran off.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "The elderly driver and passenger were unharmed and were made to believe that the man just wanted a lift along the road."

The man was wearing a dark beige padded jacket and Nike Air trainers with a yellow bobble on the outside of the foot.

Anyone with information about the identity of any of the men, is asked to call the Ryedale police witness line on (01723) 509662.
