AN exhibition of vibrant ink paintings is opening in Stokesley.

The exhibition at Bianco Nero Gallery features artist Elda Abramson's depictions of flowers, vegetables and landscapes.

Many of the original paintings were commissioned for a recent book - Vegetable Heaven - which was illustrated by the artist.

Other paintings are taken from visits to France and Italy where Elda holds demonstrations and courses on the techniques involved in ink painting.

This is the first major show of 2005 at the gallery which has been open in Stokesley for more than a year.

It is in a Georgian town house, located off the High Street.

Forthcoming exhibitions will feature the work of local artists such as Malcolm Teasdale and his depictions of Northern industrial landscapes, and nationally renowned artists such as sculptor Barbara Franc and painter Janet Moodie.

The exhibition runs from February 18 to March 26. For details, call (01642) 714433.
