ONE day they'll make a film of Jane Tomlinson's life. And, for those who do not know the true story, it will seem far-fetched and fanciful.

Four years ago, the mother-of-three was two days from death. Four years later, the terminal cancer sufferer has announced that she has surpassed her £1m fundraising target.

Three London Marathons and two London Triathlons are included in her long list of endurance tests, along with epic cycle rides from John O'Groats to Land's End, and from Rome to her home in Leeds.

Her achievements would be remarkable for someone in the best of health, let alone someone battling to keep cancer at bay.

Her efforts have raised £1,150,000 for cancer charities and she responded by saying thank you to the thousands of people who had made donations to her appeal.

The truth is that everyone of us should be saying thank you to Jane Tomlinson, because we are all likely to be touched by cancer in some way.

We should say thank you for the wonderful amount of money she has raised, for being such an inspiration, and for showing what can be achieved by the human spirit.
