Darlington defender Curtis Fleming will hope to add to manager David Hodgson's steadily improving injury problems when he steps up his fitness by playing for the reserves this afternoon.

Fleming has missed Quakers' last three games with a hamstring injury and will turn out for Neil Maddison's second string against Huddersfield at the Williamson Motors Stadium (2pm).

If he comes through unscathed, it will be up to Hodgson to decide whether Fleming will return to the side at Wycombe Wanderers this weekend.

The return of Fleming will come as a major boost after Quakers slipped down to ninth in League Two following Saturday's disappointing defeat at the hands of Notts County.

Adolfo Gregorio has resumed training following a back problem and the midfielder could also get a chance to prove his fitness this afternoon, while Stephen Thomas is recovering from a viral infection, but will not be involved.

Winger Ian Clark is making good progress from a double hernia and should return in a fortnight, while defender Joey Hutchinson is in light training and hopes to begin ball work shortly.

Adrian Webster faces a further week on the sidelines after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Notts County.

Midfielder Clark Keltie underwent a knee operation on Monday and is not expected to return until August. Keltie sustained cruciate knee ligament damage in training last week.

Hodgson could run the rule over at least one triallist this afternoon, although it will not be Lithuanian striker Grigalevicius Mindaugas. The 23-year-old impressed earlier this season, but Hodgson was not prepared to meet the financial demands of bringing the player over for only a brief spell.

* Rotherham have rejected a £200,000 offer from Nottingham Forest for former Darlington goalkeeper Mike Pollitt.

A club spokesman said: ''This just underlines the fact that we are not desperate financially, and we want to keep our best players, of which Mike is certainly one.''

The Millers are under no pressure to sell, with Pollitt under contract until the end of next season.

They are also set to unveil plans for a new £3.3m main stand development at Millmoor, which will open around Christmas time.

* Bradford winger Nicky Summerbee is in talks over an extension to his contract.

The 33-year-old is one of 11 Bantams whose contracts are up at the end of the season, but he has been offered another year
