The Futurist Theatre, on Scarborough seafront, is to be sold by the borough council to Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency.
It is identified for potential development, with proceeds from the sale reinvested in regeneration schemes.
Consultants ABL Cultural Consulting, have recommended there should still be a theatre on the site.
