A CHARITY is appealing for donations from people in Darlington as it prepares to open a temporary shop.

The Darlington branch of the RSPCA will open a shop at the front of the covered market, in Darlington, from March 14 to 20.

Volunteers are appealing for donations. Every penny will go towards helping animals in the Darlington area.

The group does not have a formal base in Darlington, but volunteers regularly take rescue animals into their homes.

The volunteers pay for food and any funds raised pay vet bills.

Volunteer Vanessa Robinson said: "The branch has struggled for a long time and are appealing for anything we can sell, bric-a-brac, toys, anything. Call me on (01325) 377878."
