MEMBERS of the National Osteoporosis Society, the charity that helps sufferers of brittle bone disease, are to hold an awareness event in Durham this summer.
The osteoporosis support and information day will be held at County Hall, in June.
Colin Stephenson, chairman of the society's Durham support group, said it will include expert speakers, plus information of use to sufferers and relatives of people with osteoporosis, which affects one in two women and one in five men aged over 50.
Mr Stephenson said the biggest problem to many sufferers is coming to terms with the problem when they are first diagnosed with the condition.
A guest personality, yet to be confirmed, will open the event, on Saturday, June 11.
