WOMEN are being invited to help mark an international day of celebrations.

Easington Primary Care Trust's Health for All project has joined forces with Aim High and Durham County Council Education in the Community to host activities, workshops and demonstrations on International Women's Day, on Saturday.

Women, aged 16 and over, attending the event at the Glebe Centre, Murton, will be able to join in gym, self-defence and relaxation sessions.

They can also try tai chi, salsa and tango dancing and experience aromatherapy and henna painting.

They will also be able to make a commemorative dress with fashion designers to mark the day, find out about cultures of women around the world, as well as getting information on health, education, benefits, business and more.

Guest speaker will be Mariom Khan-Willis from the Racial Equality Council.

Julie Tucker, of Health for All, said: "This event aims to bring women together from around the district to celebrate achievements, share time together and have fun.

"We hope to see a lot of women on the day and help them get fit, informed and unwind."

There will be a free lunch and a free creche for under eights. Free transport can also be arranged.
