A GROUP of County Durham-based Sunderland football fans plans to arrange transport to all the club's remaining matches this season.

Work commitments of some senior members of the Langley Park branch of the Sunderland AFC Supporters Association hindered away travel in the first half of the season.

But committee member John Turnock said things are now "back on track", and transport should be arranged for each of the last five away matches, starting with the Black Cats' Championship fixture at Crewe tomorrow (SAT MAR 12).

Coach travel to away games is charged at a standard subsidised fare of £10 for adults and £6 for juniors.

Transport is also available to home games, at the Stadium of Light, on three different routes, with pick-ups across the Durham area, at a standard charge of £3 for adults and £2 for children.

Bus one starts at The Green in Lanchester, and then takes in Langley Park, Witton Gilbert and Sacriston, bus two leaves from the Stag's Head, in Esh Winning, with further pick-ups in Ushaw Moor, Nevilles Cross, Gilesgate and Carrville, while the third bus sets off from the Newton Grange, at Newton Hall, and calls at The Salutation in Framwellgate Moor, before heading to Sunderland via Durham and West Rainton.

Meanwhile, the branch is staging a concert evening, featuring the band 4 for 1 (CORRECT), featuring a former Pop Idol contestant, at Langley Park Working Men's Club, on Friday March 18, at 7.30pm.

Further information and tickets are available from John Coates, on 0191-373 3267, or from the club, itself, in Hawthorne (CORRECT) Terrace, on 0191-373 1501.

Bookings for away travel can be made through David Christian, on 0771-333 2763.
