THE new owner of a glass company is planning to achieve a turnover of more than £10m.

Ryan Green, 28, has bought Clayton Glass, near Stanley, County Durham, for a seven-figure sum from the Heywood Williams Group, of Huddersfield.

The former finance director of Cestrum Conservatories, in Barnsley, plans to increase output by half.

Clayton, on the Tanfield Lea Industrial Estate, manufactures glass units for window and conservatory companies. It produces 10,000 units a week and has a turnover of £7m a year.

Mr Green said: "The business has great potential for growth, and the capacity of this state-of-the-art facility means that we can grow turnover by around fifty percent.

"We intend to use the excellent reputation for quality and service that the company already has to grow market share, as well as accelerate the launch of new products developed here."

The management team - Dave Richardson, Jason McCabe and Richard Teesdale - will remain in place. The company employs 126 staff.
