THE search for missing 13-year-old Aimee Greenwood continued yesterday, but no sign of her body has yet been found.
Coastguards in Scarborough again searched the resort's beaches for her body during their routine patrols.
It is now thought that she dived into the sea to try to save her 11-year-old brother, Luke, after he was hit by a wave and dragged into the sea from a slipway on Royal Albert Drive.
Their mother, Kim Barrett, 33, also went into the water in a desperate rescue attempt, along with her partner, Jason Johnson, 34.
Ms Barrett and Luke were swept away and died in hospital after being plucked from the sea by a rescue helicopter.
Mr Johnson and his eight-year-old son, Alec, managed to scramble to safety.
They had been on a day out in Whitby when they stopped off in Scarborough to look at the waves on the way back to their homes in Leeds.
