A PRECISION engineering company in County Durham is expanding to enable it to meet demand.
Altec Engineering, at Bowburn, near Durham, has bought premises near its factory, with a further 2,500sq ft of land available for future expansion.
The company has also taken on two staff to add to its workforce of 30.
Recently-appointed managing director David Steel, the group's former technical director, said: "We are moving into designing more special purpose machines for a wide range of industry sectors, including automotive and white goods.
"We are also investigating the development of a specific Altec product and have a number of possibilities in mind.
"The order book is currently the biggest it has been in the company's 26-year history and we are looking to the future with confidence."
The company recently completed a renewable energy project with Durham University's School of Engineering, looking at ways of harnessing wave power.
