Spennymoor's fate in the UniBond League might be sealed today if they don't turn up at Marine.

Moors fulfilled their first game out of their last four when they played Blyth on Thursday but it is looking very unlikely they will make the journey to Merseyside.

Moors managed to raise a team on Thursday, but one of those players, Danny Brunskill, is suspended today, while at least four players are turning out for Northern League clubs.

There is also a doubt over keeper Phil Naisbett's availability, so it is looking as if Moors won't be travelling.

Graeme Clark, who took charge of the team on Thursday, can't travel and said: "I'm working for the FA at the weekend, so I can't go.

"It's looking very unlikely that we can field a team. I returned on Thursday as a gesture to help the club."

The UniBond League has already charged Moors with failing to fulfil fixtures against Leek, Bridlington and Radcliffe Borough, and another no-show won't go down well ahead of tomorrow's emergency meeting of the league management committee in Manchester.

Moors have already been deducted three points for not playing at Leek originally and the feeling is that they will have the book thrown at them, especially after the ground inspection this week.

There is a growing belief that Moors will be expelled from the league, although owner Benny Mottram has indicated he will appeal against tomorrow's decision, regardless of what it is.

Mottram revealed he has had enquiries from two people who might be interested in taking over the club, although that might be too late to save its UniBond membership.

He said: "There is interest from somebody. If they want to take the lease over, then they're welcome to the club."

However, there are also ongoing issues with the UniBond League over the ground and the FA over the possible suspension.

It is also understood that recent visitors to the Brewery Field have complained about the state of the pitch.

Bishop Auckland, meanwhile, are at home to Prescot Cables.

Bishops are three points adrift of the others at the bottom after their defeat by Hyde on Wednesday night and manager Brian Honour said: "We still haven't given up. We've got seven matches left and if we win five of them we can stay up.

"If we play like we did on Thursday then we've still got a chance."

Stuart Irvine is out with a knee injury, but defender Tony Hall, striker Chris I'Anson and keeper Simon Corbett all return.

l The Wearside League game of the day is between Stokesley SC and Birtley Town with both aiming to for a top four finish, writes MALCOLM PRATT.

Birtley have been the form side since Christmas and last weekend chalked up their 13th victory in 14 outings.

Stokesley are down to third, trailing Coxhoe Athletic by three points but still have a chance to clinch the runners-up position.

They are at full strength with the inclusion of Richard Mills and Harrison Davies but Birtley manager Dave Smith has problems.

Stephen Harrison, Anthony Lynch, Matthew Raine, Paul Bryson and Danny Kind are out and he has doubts about Paul Scott, Phil Sowerby, Kevin Murphy and Scott Kerr.

Darlington RA are title favourites but face a tricky task at Jarrow. Striker Warren Byrne returns from a lengthy suspension. Nigel Bolton should pass a fitness test but Martin Brown is struggling with an ankle injury.

At the bottom, Ferryhill Athletic boss Mark Fanning will ring the changes at Ryhope CW with Paul Robson, Paul Gibson, Richard Reid, Chris Kane, Richard Beggs and Stuart Illingworth all coming into his plans.

Ryhope CW have their eyes on the top six and have Peter Maughan returning, but Anthony Holmes, David Crosby and Carl Robb need fitness checks.

Coxhoe Athletic, 13 points adrift of RA with three games in hand, host Windscale without Peter Croft and Rob Bowman.
