STAFF at a travel agents have raised more than £1,000 for a hospital maternity unit.
Travelcare, in Richmond, has donated the money towards a portable ultrasound scanner for the Friarage Hospital, in Northallerton.
Fundraising events included a children's fashion show at the King's Head Hotel, in Richmond.
Mylevaganan Kumarendran, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Friarage, thanked the staff for their support.
"This is a significant amount towards the cost of a new scanner, which is great, as the old one is in desperate need of replacing," she said.
The hospital needs £10,000 to buy the new scanner.
