PRIMARY school pupils in Shildon have proved they could be the budding entrepreneurs of the future following their business success.

The group of children from St John's Primary School, Shildon, have received Young Enterprise Awards from their headteacher after designing and making hundreds of friendship bracelets, which were sold in school.

The business idea developed during the school's "Golden Time" activities and the children came up with different designs for different issues such as anti-bullying and anti-racism.

The venture made almost £70, some of which will be spent at the school.

Support teacher Lisa Turnbull said: "They will get to spend some of the money themselves as a treat, after all, it was their business idea.

"They have done extremely well and there are one or two future business entrepreneurs to watch out for in the future. They have certainly set the standard for the next group."
