Darlington Building Society NYSD Premier League Division One: Leaders Marton could have stolen a march on their rivals for the championship after being one of only two sides to be without a fixture yesterday when rain played havoc with the programme.

Thornaby managed to dismiss Barnard Castle for 82 and won with six wickets to spare.

Seaton Carew were the only other side to win at home to Normanby Hall. Hall posted 232 for five before Ricky Clayton (66) and Martin Skirving (85) beat the target with six batsmen remaining.

Darlington RA were 21 without loss replying to the total of 201 for three.

Andy Booth scored the day's only century and Shoaib Akhtar added 58 not out for the Colliers. Danny Morgans was another batsman in form and his innings of 74 featured in the Darlington total of 207 for four at Redcar. The home side replied with 129 for five.

Marton declared after just 40 overs in Saturday's fixture with Darlington RA.

Rhys Barker (88 not out) and Chris Lane and Mark Foster, who both scored 45, propelled Martin to 241 for four. In reply, RA managed just 119 as Barker, took 4-29.

Thornaby's championship aspirations received a set-back when they lost at Blackhall.

Shoaib Akhtar was in splendid form with bat and ball for the Colliers. He scored 93 in out of 251-9.

Thornaby never threatened and were all out for 144, with Akhtar claiming 5-44.

There was a runs feast for the Yarm batsmen on the splendid Stokesley wicket. Half centuries by Ollie Flight and Will Wyatt enabled a total of 235-6 to be reached.

Dave Weighell opened with 52 but, Stokesley managed just 171 with Wyatt and Chris Wilson sharing seven of the wickets.

There was an excellent game at Fountains Garth where Seaton Carew were only nine runs short of a win with the last pair at the crease. Their target was 236, and Martin Skirving (49), Kevin Rowntree with 44 and Burton (41) put them in with a chance. But when Steve Donlon 6-81, the outcome was on a knife-edge at stumps.

Gary Bolton batted throughout the Guisborough innings for an unbeaten 91, which included 11 boundaries. Forty of Richard Hornbrook's 54 runs came in boundaries and Ryan Murray added 58 to the total of 235-6.

Normanby Hall reached 244-5 before calling a halt to their innings. Mark Lane and Mohamed Shoaib both recorded half centuries and Eddie Rosa ended undefeated with 37. Although visitors Redcar never stretched the Hall attack, they made a creditable 177-8. Dave Brown took 5-59 runs in 16 overs.

Barnard Castle had the edge on Darlington at Feethams winning by four wickets. Dave Stanwix top-scored with 40 not out and James Stock returned 4-72 in 20 overs for the home side. Half of the Darlington total of 150-9 came from Jamie Watson who recorded 10 boundaries out of 80. Andy Toulson took 4- 45.

Wolviston had two wickets to spare at Bedale, who were back in the pavilion for 158, which included 67 by James Clarkson.

George Sayers was in good form for Wolviston taking 6-27. The visitors were then indebted to John Harris for his contribution of 44 and although Martin Shillito and Mark Ellis both took three wickets, it was Wolviston who came out on top.
