FOUR musicians will perform in Durham in the latest of a series of concerts promoting young talent.
The concert, by Durham Young Musicians (DYM), will be on Sunday, July 17, in St Cuthbert's Church, North Road, Durham, at 2pm, and will feature Joanne Keithley, Jonathan Parkin, Helen Lowe and Adam Johnson.
Joanne, of Durham, who has played the cello for 11 years, attended Durham Johnston School and in 2003 won the James Etherington Award for young musicians.
She studied the cello with local teacher Jim Bickel and played in several local orchestras, including the Young Sinfonia. Since then, she has been studying music at the Trinity College of Music, in London.
Jonathan, who was born near Blackhall, took up the clarinet at age 11 while at St Aidan's RC School, in Sunderland.
He played principal clarinet in the Young Sinfonia, from September 2002 to July 2003, and also played with the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain for two seasons. He is studying at the Royal College of Music, in London.
Joanne and Jonathan will be accompanied by two young pianists, Helen Lowe, who is studying at Trinity College of Music, and Adam Johnson, who is at the Royal Northern College of Music.
The programme consists of Cello Sonata No 2 by Martinu, Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Poulenc and Trio for Piano, Clarinet and Cello by Brahms
Tickets cost £4, £3 for concessions and members of DYM, and £1 for accompanied children.
