A SECURITY technology company has provided a camera system that will be watching over the G8 summit in Gleneagles this week.

The £180,000 contract to route all the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras used by police in Scotland into one main centre has been completed by 2020 Vision Systems, in South Shields.

The company installed the system at the Lothian and Borders Police Force Communications Centre, enabling officers to gain direct access and control of any CCTV cameras in their region.

The scheme has been shortlisted for an award for the Most Innovative UK Security Project of Installation.

Peter Houlis, managing director of 2020 Vision Systems, said the system allowed police to see images from Edinburgh and all the major towns from one centre.
