UNSUNG heroes who have made a difference in West Middlesbrough were preseented with awards last night.
The awards were organised by West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust (WMNT) to recognise the dedication of residents who give up their time to help improve the neighbourhoods Newport, West Lane and Whinney Banks.
There were six categories. Joan Ford, trust chairman, said: "Our first awards last year proved that West Middlesbrough is bursting with unsung heroes who work tirelessly to help improve people's lives, or have overcome barriers themselves.
"We were delighted to see so many people put pen to paper to nominate some fabulous local residents. Every one of them is a winner in one way or another for their hard work and dedication."
The awards were sponsored by Erimus Housing, Jobcentre Plus, Pertemps Employment Alliance, Streetscene Services and Tees Valley Housing Group.
