A DURHAM-based housing charity is moving home.
Durham Action on Single Housing (Dash) will from now on be based at newly refurbished offices at 32-34 Dragonville Industrial Park.
Dash is a well-established charity which has supported single homeless people in the Durham area since 1972.
It provides short-term accommodation for eight individuals in its main building, Harry Mears House, in the city, as well as housing seven people on a longer term arrangement in properties it either owns or manages.
The offices will relieve previously cramped space at Harry Mears House and allow Dash to expand its services.
The old office is to become a resource centre for training and as a meeting place for tenants and other service users.
The offices will be officially opened by the Mayor of Durham, Councillor John Lightley on Tuesday.
A project worker for Dash said yesterday: "Homelessness is an increasing problem. It's a misery for those who experience it and can be a problem for the wider community.''
