AN entrepreneur from Derwentside is unlocking the mysteries of information technology by offering first stage computer skills teaching in the home.
Cheryl Hamilton, from Burnhope, aims to support those who cannot attend conventional classroom teaching with her new business.
Wings To Fly will provide a hands-on one-to-one approach in the homes of adult students.
Ms Hamilton said: "There are a number of reasons why people will not or cannot attend external teaching classes - it may be illness, or quite often it's simply intimidation and sheer bewilderment at the whole idea of using a computer.
"I'm confident that by removing the embarrassment barrier, and taking teaching into the home, I can help many more individuals become IT literate and, at the same time, help change their lifestyles."
Ms Hamilton has been helped in her quest by Derwentside District Council, which has provided start-up grant support via its recently-launched Emerge project.
